1950年代のカリフォルニアを舞台に、天真爛漫な次男ビーバーとその家族を描いたホームコメディ。
兄のウォーリーが小さい頃、弟の名前"セオドア"をうまく発音できずに"ビーバー"と呼んでいたことから、いつしかそれがニックネームになった。
ビーバー役のジェリー・マザーズはビッチコックの映画「ハリーの災難」
