50年の間に6,000万部を売ったジュブナイル（小説の中の1ジャンルで、少年少女向け小説のこと）のロングセラー、「ハーディ・ボーイズ」シリーズと「ナンシー・ドルー」シリーズをTVドラマ化したもの。
●「ハーディ・ボーイズ」シリーズ●
アメリカの第一級のライターたちがフランクリン・W・ディクソンというペン・ネームで書いた少年探偵シリーズ。
アメリカ東部の町に住むフランク・ハーディとジョー・ハーディは私立探偵の父親を持つ正義感と行動力で、さまざまな事件で少年探偵として大活躍する。
1972年刊行の「古塔の宝」以来、少年たちの間で絶大な支持を集めた。
●「ナンシー・ドルー」シリーズ●
アメリカの作家で出版者でもあったエドワード・ストラッテメイヤー（1862-1930)がキャロリン・キーン名義で書いた少女探偵シリーズであるが、「古い柱時計の秘密」の発表直後に亡くなったため、娘のハリエット・ストラッテメイヤー・アダムズと児童文学者のミルドレット・ベンソンを中心に複数の作家たちの手によって書き継がれ、今も新作が発表されている長期シリーズ。
現在まで計170作品以上が発表されている。
少女探偵の草分け的存在として本国アメリカをはじめ全世界の少女たちの間で絶大な人気を誇っている。
「ハーディ・ボーイズ」、「ナンシー・ドルー」、それぞれのシリーズが毎週交代で放映されるが、ハーディ兄弟がナンシーと、一緒に活躍するエピソードもある。
