内容は全くのフィクションで、ディアブロという町を舞台に、弟のタッグと力を合わせ、ロフティ・クレイグ保安官を助けて悪者退治をする物語
アニー・オークレー（1860年8月13日 - 1926年11月3日）はバッファロー・ビルの主催する「ワイルド・ウェスト・ショー」の看板スターで、本名はフィービ・アン・モーズィ（Phoebe Ann Mosey）。
主演のゲイル・デイビスは、実在のアニーと同様に155㎝の小柄な美人で、乗馬と射撃も得意だった。
多くの本で、スタント・シーンは全て自ら演じていると紹介されているが、真偽のほどは不明。
ただし、乗馬シーンは全て本人。
