ルシル・ボール主演で、シットコムの草分け的な作品。
以後、数多くのコメディに大きな影響を与えた。
シットコム（sitcom）とは、「シチュエーション・コメディ（situation comedy）」の略称で、ある状況（シチュエーション）の中でのコメディーが行われる作品やその手法を指す。
その後、基本はそのままで設定や構成などに若干変更を加えた、
ルーシー・デジ・コメディ・アワー（The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour）（1957年〜1960年）
ルーシー・ショー（The Lucy Show）（1962年〜1968年）
陽気なルーシー（Here's Lucy）（1968年〜1974年）
と続けられ、いずれも高い視聴率を獲得した。
