ニューヨークのタレント・エージェンシーを舞台に、気さくで可愛く勤勉な秘書スージー・マクナマラの活躍と失敗談を描いたシットコム。
1940年代にMGMでミュージカルやコメディの大スターとして活躍していたアン・サザーンのテレビシリーズデビュー作。
アン・サザーンのキャラクターはルシル・ボールとよく比較されるが、本作は、ルーシー・シリーズのようなドタバタ性はなく、主人公の機知や登場人物の個性、ストーリーの面白さから来る笑いが特徴であった。
アン・サザーンと上司役のドン・ポーター、電話交換手役のアン・ティレルの3人の相性はとても良く、彼らは第2シリーズの「アン・サザーン・ショー」にも出演している。
